Day 2: Oban & Crinan

Whiskey trip to the Hebrides. After a good breakfast, we will take a tour of Oban whiskey distillery. It will be a fun and interesting tour and we will see barrels with a capacity of 35,000 liters. In the end there is the possibility to taste (and of course to buy). In the afternoon we sail towards Crinan, a very small, beautiful place at the entrance to the Crinan Canal. This is where we lock in the lock, a unique experience.

Day 3: Jura

Today we go to the Isle of Jura to the very remote Jura distillery. The island of Jura is a paradise of untouched wilderness and natural beauty. The name comes from the Jura Norse and means “Deer Island”. This is still a suitable name, as the population of about 5,500 deer is by far the 180th Diurach (the people of Jura in Gaelic). Nature lovers can find more than 100 species of birds, including stone eagles. In addition, goats, seals, rabbits, hares, ermines and otters characterize the animal world. You can take a trip to the remote Banhill Farm, 37 kilometers north of Craighouse. Here the writer George Orwell wrote his masterpiece ‘1984’ in the forties of the last century. He described Banhill very precisely as “extremely inaccessible place”.

Day 4 & 5: Islay

Our whiskey ride to the Hebrides continues. We sail to Islay, the Whiskey Island par excellence. Islay owes its fame to the nine distilleries that produce millions of liters of liquid gold. Due to various alcohol taxes, this part of Great Britain is also called the most heavily burdened part.
Since most distilleries have their own boat bridge, we can dock or anchor directly with the ship.

Day 6: At sea back to Oban

We spend the day at sea and sail back to Oban. We enjoy the untouched , wild nature of the Scottish islands . The rugged beauty of Jura, the silence on the water, the indescribable landscape , the rugged coastline with surprising bays and quiet fishing villages and the magnificent view of the islands in the distance. We sail past Duart Castle, an unforgettable moment.
